Great Taste has its Benefits - Coke Plus

In March, Coca-Cola launched its Diet Coke Plus™ which they call a sparkling, calorie-free beverage with vitamins and minerals. In addition to providing great, refreshing taste, Diet Coke Plus supposedly is a good source of vitamins B3, B6, and B12, and the minerals zinc and magnesium. The Coca-Cola company claims to have the world's largest beverage distribution system, consumers in more than 200 countries and a rate exceeding 1.4 billion servings each day. Phew!
Doesnt 'Healthy Soft Drinks' sound a bit oxymoronic? But that could be just one side of Coca Cola's move into a new hybrid called Diet Coke Plus.

It could be a good thing that a Brand like this one is moving with the times where the public at large is shifting their morning coffee off the schedule and replacing it with morning walks and gym sessions. It's age of Healthy living.

However, if Coca Cola wanted to sound like a health conscious brand, they could have added some other product to their portfolio. Why mix things up. Coke is for Soda-sippers, who care about taste and not really nutrition. If they were healthy people they would not be picking up Cola for sure. You'd find them at the Fresh Fruit Juice stall next to their Gym!

What do you think fellow branding/ marketing people!?

Guilt my dear, guilt....makes you do things! I think the diet coke varient comes from the thought that most people feel guilty after drinking soda...there is this small nagging voice in the head. they dont want to give up on the taste and also the image associated with sipping a cola....I think its a great way of flaunting your attitude....have a healthy cola..!

Cola has long been da favourite beverage of millions of ppl worldwide. For years da janta has been gulping down PEPSI/COKE, da more favoured amongst da aerated clan. now they r so used to it, 1 days goes widout it & they lose their cool, get mood swings, scowl at ppl unnecessarily. As rightly sd, dis is age of livin da healthy way n its a gd strt. A strt which has 2 sustain a long way. Bt dis iota dat has strtd da health revolutin is highly contagious. All da brands have seen dis trend comin. In fact I feel COKE has been a lil late in2 da healthy/nutrient cola category. Bt fortunately its been da 1st one. Coke knows 4 sure, dat da loyal cola drinkers, who binge on it jus 4 da tast, who have got addicted to it, who strt da day wid it has realised da benefits of or rathr discovered da healthy way 2 life. And they r ridin on da compulsive behaviour of da cola drinkers.
U nver know wat u get 2 c next...mayb a nutritional Fosters beer!

I completely agree to deepika on this one....think about it..cola drinkers are completely aware of the side effects and still consume...people who dont consume cola for health reasons wont consume it even if it is prescribed by a doc leave alone people who claim to have made it healthy, the same people who have been providing teeth melting drinks for years! once in a while drinkers dont care much about the drink...a cola is a cola is a cola...bad move according to me

Coke Plus, from the first time I read about this product a few months I thought it has great potential in terms of creating a new category. However market analyst feel it is priced quite high $.99 which could pose a hindrance to its sale. I for sure am looking forward to the come hit India.

I think its a great move by the cola company. There are so many people who love drinking aerated drinks but at the same time don't want to mess around with their weight. If this drink claims to pump minerals and vitamins into the body - it will have many takers. Not only aerated drinks addicts but also people who thrive on juices!
